THE JURASSIC TWO DAY OPEN BOAT FESTIVAL- 2018

WEST BAY – 21ST – 22ND JULY

The annual two day open boat festival organised by the West Bay SAC was fished by 41 anglers with very good weather conditions over the weekend of the 21st and 22nd July. Each angler was allowed to bring two different species to the weigh in and the event was judged on the best two specimens.

Lewis Hodder took his boat Pegasus down with a private charter group who fish this competition annually. Seven members of LRSAC fished on Steve Sweet’s boat Amaretto IV.

After the first day Barry Moore, fishing on Amaretto IV, was in the lead with a specimen percentage of 133% and he won the pool for best round fish as well as the first prize. It had already been decided that those fishing on Amaretto IV would “pool” their winnings so £228 was rolled over into the next day’s pot. Two other members of the group were handily placed for the next day having both caught very good specimen Black Bream but they both needed to catch another decent fish.

Unfortunately on the second day those LRSAC members fishing the competition didn’t catch many fish of note and consequently this gave an opportunity for people on other boats to catch up on fishing for the Sunday prizes and to improve their chances in the overall rankings.

Congratulations go to Paul Fisher fishing on Lewis’s boat for winning the competition:
