LYME BAY SHORE TROPHY REPORT

Lyme Bay Shore Trophy Report – 2017

On the 18th of November, 4 local angling clubs came together to fish the annual Lyme Bay Trophy Shore Competition.

15 members from Axe Valley SAC, 5 members from Lyme Regis SAC, 5 from West Bay SAC and 4 from Beer & District SAA signed on to fish.

The competition was held in Lyme Regis, fishing from 6pm-11pm. The format was catch and release with a maximum of 5 of each species.

The South Westerly wind put a bit of a chop on the water but it was fishable from all the beaches and the harbour.

Anglers didn’t manage to stay dry for the whole competition, as the heavens opened around 10 o’clock.

Great to see some nice Pollack caught from around the harbour but apart from a Bass of 4lb caught by Bryn Thomas (Lyme Regis SAC) it was only Dogfish and Pouting to make up the rest of the scores.

At 11pm all anglers met back at the Lifeboat Station to hand in their score cards to the team captains. The top 8 cards from each club counted, and the scores were:

Axe Valley SAC – 122pts

Lyme Regis SAC– 69pts

West Bay SAC – 65pts

Beer SAA – 28pts.

Well done to the members of Axe Valley SAC for an excellent turn out and for retaining the trophy for another year! Picture attached

The Lyme Bay Trophy will be hosted by Axe Valley next year – details to be confirmed in 2018.
