Shore Match report – Saturday 9th April

Last night (Saturday) was the LRSAC shore match for “the best Flounder” at Lyme Regis. 13 members turned out to fish one of the biggest tides of the year. Thankfully the weather was kind, with only one rain shower towards the end of the match. Fishing was hard, with even, Eels, Rockling, and Pout being scarce! Bryn Thomas did manage to find a Plaice of 415grms, and Leonard Palmer landed a Bass of 49cm, which on LRSAC new conversion chart, comes in at 1,265grms.

In the end it came down to the only junior member fishing, to show everyone how to catch a Flounder! Using a Pulley Wishbone rig, with her favorite pink beads, Black Lug, and a cast of about 10 meters off the sandy beach, 8 year old Willow Herbert pulled in a Flounder of 575grms.  2nd place went to Darren Herbert with the only other flounder of the night.  Most anglers fished the North wall of the harbour where the diggers have spent the last few days dredging and moving tons of sand.

The next shore match is for the Wednesday league and will be fished in Lyme on the 27th April. The bonus fish being “any Wrasse” sign in at the Tackle Box from 5.30pm for a 6.30pm start. For more information about joining the club, visit www.lymefishing.org.uk
