A record 46 people in 11 boats entered this years Black Bream Open Festival. The competition rules were changed this year to the best two Black Bream aggregate totals rather than have just the heaviest Bream.
In what proved very trying conditions, as well as having to put up with rain in the later stages of this competition we also had the unusual problems of large blooms of jelly fish which lifted many of the baits off the sea floor as they passed by.
At the weigh-in sixteen of the forty six anglers weighed in their pairs of Black Bream.
In third place we had a tie with both Andy Sheader and John Hansford finishing on 2,242gms. In second place Phil Crabbe (who won last year) posted an aggregate score of 2,406gms. The winner was Roy Shipway (who incidentally only caught two bream all day) on a total score of 2,452gms.
From a total prize pot of £460, Roy Shipway received £230 for coming First, Phil Crabbe received £161 for his second place and Andy Sheader and John Hansford shared £69 for coming joint third.
Many thanks to all those taking part.
