Best Pair of Plaice report

The annual Best Pair of Plaice boat match took place on Sunday 20th May with 18 competitors in 3 boats.

In superb conditions, Pegasus, Alice Rose and Mackerel 2 headed out to the east, a particular poignant trip for Alice Rose as this was the last trip before she moved on to her new owner in a new venue.

Twelve out of the eighteen competitors caught the required pair of plaice for the competition and plenty of Plaice were caught, mainly in the afternoon session.

As well as Plaice, Tub Gurnard, Smooth hounds Thornback Rays and even one nice 7lb Turbot were caught.

In 1st Place was Brian Moss with 1,304gms, 2nd place Andy Gregory with 1,182gms, 3rd place Pete Wilkins with 1,178gms.

In the boat league the standings after two events are as follows:

Joint 1st on 7 points Roy Shipway and Brian Moss, Joint 3rd on 5pts Andy Sheader and Pete Wilkins.
