Boat Competition report

On Sunday 14th June round 6 of the Boat Competition took place for “Number of Species”. 21 competitors amongst six “boats” took part and everybody caught fish. Darren Herbert and Wayne Burgess fished from kayaks for the first time in this season’s competition.

Gavin Tyte came third with a points score of 153 points. Fish caught were Dogfish, Grey Gurnard, Plaice, Pollack, Pouting, Ballan Wrasse, Poor Cod and Goldsinney Wrasse.

Darren Herbert and Mike Rogers both scored 169 points but Darren won on the tie-breaker having caught ten species to Mike’s nine. Darren’s bag included Bull Huss, Dab, Dogfish, Tub Gurnard, Plaice, Ballan Wrasse, Corkwing Wrasse, Poor Cod, Shanny and Goldsinney Wrasse. Mike caught Cod, Dogfish, Plaice, Pollack, Pouting, Ballan Wrasse, Cuckoo Wrasse, Red Gurnard and Tub Gurnard.

League positions are as follows:

Roy Shipway is in the lead with 16 points, Darren is in second place with 12 points and Brian Moss and Lewis Hodder have 10 points.

In the Species League Darren Herbert is in the lead with13 species, Brian Moss is in second place with12 species and Roy Shipway is in third place with 11 species.

In the Best Specimen Competition Roy Shipway is in first place with 321.36%, Darren Herbert is in second place with 217.01% and Paul Blake third with 179.79%.

In the Skippers Shield, Lewis Hodder has 949.36% (15 species). Phil, his father, is in second place with 73.25% (one species).

In the combined Boat and Shore Competition, Darren Herbert has 23 points, Tony Bessford has 19 points and Wayne Burgess has 16 pts.

 

The next Boat competition is on Sunday 5thJuly and is for Best Cod.
